About Me
Music has always been a huge part of my life, and I feel very lucky to have had inspiring teachers who encouraged me throughout my own musical journey. While studying for my BA (Hons) in Music at the University of Chichester, I developed a real passion for both teaching and performing. During my time there, I performed with a variety of ensembles, including the Contemporary Music Group and the University Orchestra.
Since graduating over 15 years ago, I have taught piano, woodwind and music theory to students of all ages and abilities in both independent and state schools across Norfolk. Over the years I have worked at Hethersett Old Hall School, Town Close School, Notre Dame Preparatory School and several others. I currently teach at Town Close School, Downham Market Academy and Litcham School.
One of the things I enjoy most about teaching is seeing students grow in confidence and develop a genuine love of music. I am proud to have maintained a 100% ABRSM examination pass rate, with many students achieving High Merits and Distinctions. It has also been wonderful to see several of my students go on to receive music scholarships and enjoy success in music competitions.
Alongside my teaching, I have always enjoyed leading orchestras, wind bands and other extra-curricular music groups, as well as organising workshops and performance opportunities. I believe these experiences give students the chance to build confidence, develop their musical skills and, most importantly, enjoy making music with others.
As well as teaching, performing continues to be an important part of my musical life. During my time at university, I played saxophone with the Bournemouth Student Big Band, touring France, Belgium and Spain. I have also performed on flute and piccolo with the Mozart Orchestra in Norwich and have held the position of Principal Flute with both the Imperial Vienna Orchestra and St Gregory's Orchestra. I currently play Principal Flute with the Sillars Orchestra and regularly perform with a variety of smaller ensembles. I have also enjoyed taking part in several musical theatre productions in Norwich, including West Side Story, Little Shop of Horrors and Singin' in the Rain.
